Empathy Without Exhaustion @ NPA Summit 2024

The News Product Alliance Summit is a hands-on virtual conference of media practitioners on Oct. 11, 2024.

This is a mix of introductory and intermediate-to-advanced level sessions, creating opportunities for seasoned news product professionals to collaborate and learn from each other, as well as entry points for journalists and others to learn more about basic product management concepts.

I'll be co-facilitating a session with Becky Pallack on lean strategies for understanding your community.

Session summary:

Ever felt swamped by audience research? We've been there. We're practitioners from diverse settings who've all grappled with the same challenge: too much data, not enough insight. In this session, we'll share our battle-tested strategies for building community empathy through qualitative research without breaking the bank or burning out.

We'll explore practical approaches like empathy interviews and the Jobs-to-be-Done framework for audience segmentation. Youโ€™ll learn how to avoid scope creep that can make a research effort balloon.

This isn't ivory tower stuff โ€” we're talking real-world tactics you can deploy immediately. Whether you're a product guru or a journalist aiming to connect with your information consumers, you'll walk away inspired by cost-effective and time-efficient methods to gather and leverage audience insights. Let's turn that data overwhelm into actionable understanding.

Tickets can still be bought here.
